- Tune in to the action!
Can I use a VPN to live stream MLB games from another country?
Some users watch MLB games by connecting to a VPN server in a country other than their own, but doing so may violate copyright or the streaming service’s terms of use. ExpressVPN is a privacy and security tool, and using it to circumvent copyright is against our Terms of Service. We cannot see or control what you do while connected to our VPN, so you are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with all relevant terms and laws.

Live stream MLB games on MLB.TV
The easiest way to watch every MLB game is with an MLB.TV subscription. MLB.TV is available globally, and ExpressVPN works seamlessly with MLB.TV to ensure you can stream the action privately and securely.
MLB.TV
Price: 30 USD/month or 150 USD/season
The MLB.TV app is the most comprehensive and affordable option for streaming the entire MLB season. MLB.TV International users can live stream the Home Run Derby, All-Star Game, and postseason without blackouts. MLB.TV also offers a multiview feature, allowing subscribers to watch up to four games at once on supported Apple TV, Fire TV and Google TV devices. The service comes with a seven-day free trial, and also offers a monthly option.
Please note that blackouts still apply to MLB.TV users in the United States, Canada, and Guam.
MLB blackout policy explained
Unfortunately for baseball fans, “blackout” does not refer to a team and its fans wearing dark uniforms. Blackout instead refers to games being unavailable to stream in certain regions because the regional sports networks (RSNs) own the distribution rights. For example, a Yankees fan living in New York City cannot watch Aaron Judge and the Bronx Bombers on MLB.TV because the YES Network (the Yankees’ RSN) distributes the rights to cable companies (and select cord-cutting services) in the area.
The blackout policy also applies to fans living in states without MLB teams, such as Iowa or New Hampshire. Blackouts are sometimes determined by ZIP codes. Although New Jersey lacks Major League Baseball, those with a northern New Jersey ZIP code (such as 07006) cannot watch the Yankees or Mets on MLB.TV. However, those with a ZIP code in southern New Jersey (i.e., 08002) can watch Yankees and Mets games, though they cannot stream the Philadelphia Phillies.
Additionally, the Toronto Blue Jays‘ blackout policy covers all of Canada. The Boston Red Sox (the Maritimes), Minnesota Twins (Saskatchewan and Manitoba), and Seattle Mariners (British Columbia and Alberta) are also blacked out in select Canadian provinces. All San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics live games are unavailable in the U.S. territory of Guam.
MLB.TV’s blackout policy extends to select regular-season games (including any airing on ESPN), the All-Star Game, and all postseason games for U.S. customers. However, a customer who owns MLB.TV International is not subject to blackouts.
Please note blackouts do not apply to audio-only feeds. That Yankees fan living in Manhattan? Although they can’t watch the game, they can stream the audio on their phone, computer, Fire TV, or whatever device they choose—so long as MLB.TV is supported on said device, of course!
Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, and San Diego Padres blackouts explained
Beginning in 2023, Major League Baseball began directly offering fans in select regions (originally Arizona and San Diego) the ability to watch in-market Diamondbacks and Padres games through MLB.TV amid issues with their regional sports networks. Previously, a D–backs fan living in Phoenix could not stream a Diamondbacks game on MLB.TV, regardless of what channel it aired on. However, that is no longer the case, and team-specific packages are available for those in local markets.
As of 2024, the in-market MLB.TV package applies only to Diamondbacks, Padres, and Colorado Rockies fans. (The team-specific packages for those living out-of-market, such as a Rockies fan living in Baltimore or a Diamondbacks fan now residing in Atlanta, remain available!)
Diamondbacks, Padres, and Rockies fans are still subject to the blackout rule featuring select regular-season games, the All-Star Game, and the playoffs.
2024 MLB.TV U.S. and International Blackout Schedule
Baseball fans can find a list of blacked-out games on Major League Baseball’s official website.
Where to watch MLB games with free trials
Fubo
Price: 80 USD/month and up
Channels: ESPN, ESPN 2, Fox, FS1, MLB Network, select regional sports networks
Country: U.S.
On the downside, Fubo does not offer TBS, which airs national games on Tuesdays and select postseason games. However, fans from the United States can watch baseball games airing on Turner channels through Fubo if you purchase Max and the Bleacher Report Sports Add-On tier for Max, each of which cost 10 USD/month.
Fubo remains one of the few cord-cutting services to offer select regional sports networks for U.S. viewers, such as Marquee Sports Network (Cubs), NBC Sports Bay Area (Giants), NESN (Red Sox), and Root Sports Northwest (Mariners). Note that for games on regional sports networks, the teams available to you will be determined by the home zip code on your billing account. In addition, the “Sports Plus” package that includes MLB Network costs an additional 11 USD per month. Fubo also announced that it will include MLB.TV as an add-on for 25 USD/month, though standard blackout rules still apply. Fubo comes with a 7-day free trial.
Note: You will need a U.S. credit/debit card to subscribe. The billing address used may determine which local channels are available, and you may be unable to change your location.
DirecTV Stream
Price: 85 USD/month and up
Channels: ESPN, ESPN 2, Fox, FS1, FS2, MLB Network, TBS, select regional sports networks
DirecTV Stream is often on the pricier side, especially if you want the MLB Network, but it’s a great option for U.S. fans to stream MLB games if you prefer a cord-cutting service over an additional streaming app. The service offers a 5-day free trial.
Hulu+Live TV
Price: 77 USD/month
Channels: ESPN, ESPN 2, Fox, FS1, FS2, MLB Network, TBS, select regional sports networks
Hulu+Live TV offers most of the national channels broadcasting MLB for American fans. Select regional sports networks are also available.
YouTube TV
Price: 73 USD/month and up
Channels: ESPN, ESPN 2, Fox, FS1, FS2, TBS
YouTube TV offers Americans a variety of channels that carry MLB games, and the subscription costs 73 USD/month. You may need to submit a U.S. ZIP code (e.g., 10022, 48104, etc.), but it accepts a wide array of payment options. If you don’t feel like committing to YouTube TV, use the free trial. However, note that YouTube TV no longer carries MLB Network following a carriage dispute in 2023.

Apple TV+
Price: 14 USD/month (seven-day free trial)
MLB games are back on AppleTV+ for the 2024 season! You can catch Friday Night Baseball throughout the year on Apple TV+. Although the games are no longer free, AppleTV+ does offer a 7-day free trial you can take advantage of. Although blackouts do not apply, please note that the games will exclusively air on Apple TV+. However, you can still listen to the radio feed via the MLB app.
Other ways to watch MLB games in 2024
United States
Sling TV
Price: Varies

Sling TV includes channels that carry MLB games, such as ESPN, MLB Network, TBS, Fox, and FS1, as well as some regional sports networks. Please note that Sling no longer offers a free trial as of 2024.
Canada
TSN
Price: 20 CAD/month
Canadian baseball fans can live stream Toronto Blue Jays games, as well as select MLB games, on TSN+. While it doesn’t offer a free trial, TSN+ does allow users to purchase a one-day pass for less than 11 CAD (which is handy if you only want to watch a specific game).

How can I stream on my TV with a VPN?
In brief there are five different ways to stream sports on your TV with ExpressVPN:
- With the native app for a smart TV or streaming device
- By streaming on your computer and connecting to the TV with an HDMI cable
- By mirroring or casting wirelessly to your TV or streaming device from your computer or mobile device
- By connecting to an ExpressVPN-enabled router, which allows for unlimited devices and makes it super simple to connect to different server locations simultaneously
- With MediaStreamer, ExpressVPN’s solution for devices that cannot install a VPN, such as some streaming consoles and gaming consoles. MediaStreamer only needs to be set up once, although it does not provide the full security benefits of a VPN.
For more information on all the ways to get ExpressVPN on your big-screen TV, click here or contact a 24/7 Support agent for step-by-step instructions.
I connected to the VPN but my internet speed is slow
If your internet speed is slow or your streaming seems to lag, there are a few possible reasons:
-The distance of your selected VPN server location from your physical location
-Your connection type (wired connections are more reliable than wireless connections)
-Suboptimal interconnectivity between the VPN and your ISP
-Slow internet connection speed at your location
-Your device type and processing power
Try each of the following steps to troubleshoot:
-Download the latest version of ExpressVPN
-Connect to a different VPN server location
-Change your VPN protocol
If you try each of the above and are still experiencing issues with your streaming speed, contact the ExpressVPN Support Team 24/7 and someone will be with you in seconds.

This doesn’t work all the time. I’m not sure if the MLB app is getting wise to VPNs but the Boston Yankee game last night was blacked out no matter what VPN location I used in the states. I finally had success with a site in Canada, however it dumped every time there was a commercial break and it required reconnecting.
Express VPN isn’t working for the mlb.tv package like this article states. It did work last year. Have you got this fixed yet? The only reason I have express vpn is for baseball and now it’s not working.
Necesito ver estos juegos
Trying to watch MLB.TV on laptop with Express VPN turned on. When I attempt to stream a live game, I get an error. MLB.TV’s website says you may experience streaming issues while connected to a VPN.
Any thoughts?
Me gustaría ver el juego
cheers to alvin on the support team for helping
Hi Richard,
Please try the connecting to the closest server location you previously connected to. Also, please decline sharing your location with the app if possible.
I’m using express VPN on Android and my first two games worked, but today’s game is getting blocked. Same team and same city. Any tips?
I would like to see some live MLB games

For further assistance, please contact Support at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/#open-chat
Does expressvpn work with Roku?
Download FS Midwest app. Watch games for free.
Hi Andrew,
Are you watching the games from a browser? It’s possible that your geolocation is being detected and causing the blackout. To fix this, use the ExpressVPN browser extension: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/vpn-setup/expressvpn-browser-extension/
Why are Astros games still blacked out using a vpn and setting location as UK? I’ve followed instructions. This has been worthless so far

Hi Bud,
Unfortunately, we don’t know of any such sites. Please try looking on Reddit to see if there are alternate options.
If you’d like to watch Fox Sports Midwest on your Roku, please first set up ExpressVPN on your device (https://www.expressvpn.com/support/vpn-setup/stream-on-roku-with-virtual-router-or-router/), connect to a U.S. server locaiton that has access to Fox Sports Midwest, then launch the FOX Sports Go channel on your Roku.
Hello …
Can you provide me with a streaming site that could provide Fox Sports Midwest via a Roku device?
Thanks … bud hodge

Hi, I have MLB on my Apple TV 4…will expressvpn work on that? Im trying to watch Dodger games…
Hi Lee,
For the smoothest streaming experience, we do not recommend casting to a Chromecast.
I have the ExpressVPN service. Can I use ExpressVPN to sign into MLB.TV to stream blackout games and then cast to a chromecast, or will it note that my Chromecast is on a router located in a blackout area?
I got it up and working now. I had to add Media streamer to my expressvpn router. Thankyou for all the youtube videos that walked me through this.
This didn’t help. I’ve tried attaching mediastreamer, but everything else is set up through router. I don’t know how to attach this through expressvpnrouter. Any suggestions?
I am going through all your youtube videos, and redoing everything step by step hopefully this will work.
Hi Gregory,

Roku is a popular smart TV and streaming player company. I’m not sure if it’s also the name of a species of animal found in Australia, but I’ll keep an eye out next time I visit 🙂
tried to stream Baltimore Orioles games on IPVANISH vpn using amazon firetv. miserable failure. why would YOUR vpn be better ? and i’ve heard VPN’s have some sort of trouble with Amazon fire products (by FAR the best and most commonly used streaming devices. Obviously your vpn is not helpful to us if it doesnt work with FireTv/stick products ) what’s a roku/ an australian animal ?) thanx
Hi Jennifer,
Please get in touch with Support here: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/#open-chat
I am having the same issue with my appletv too (4th gen) i have my router (netscape) with expressvpn on it. MLB is still blackout through both systems.
I got this specifically for watching baseball.
Hi Timothy,
You may need to spoof your location as well. Some possible steps are here: https://www.quora.com/Can-you-fake-a-location-on-an-Apple-TV
If you run into further problems, please contact Support at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/#open-chat
I should add that it also doesn’t work in browser, either. MLB.tv knows where I am…
I have my AppleTV set up with Mediastreamer and MLB does not work. I then changed my router’s L2PT settings to be out of the blackout zones, and now every game is blacked out. I’ll be honest, this was one of the big reasons for me to subscribe in the first place.
Hi David,
Yes! Just follow the steps here: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/vpn-setup/stream-on-roku-with-virtual-router-or-router/
If you run into any issues, please contact Support at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/#open-chat 🙂
Can I use ExpressVPN for my Roku device ? If so do you have instructions how to do so ?
Thanks
Hi Dave,
Please contact Support at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/#open-chat
Just got signed up today and used the step by step guide for setting up with a 4th gen Apple TV by first creating a ddns account, then doing the Dynamic DNS Registration, then manually
configuring the DNS server IP on the Apple TV’s settings. After restarting via settings (per instructions) I still get blacked out of local games. Any suggestions?
Hi Michael,
A VPN secures your connection and let’s you enjoy baseball streams no matter where you are. Just fire up ExpressVPN, connect to a location near the tournament locale, and you’ll be all set.
If you run into any issues, be sure to get help from Support: https://www.expressvpn.com/support/
I want to watch Carribean Baseball tournament in Jalisco Mexico. Is there any way to stream it live?
Hi Vic, did you ever get this to work? Im having the same problem.
Hi Vic,
Try not to use a GPS location spoofer with ExpressVPN. With a VPN, your IP address is already hidden and replaced by the server address you connect to. If you have further problems, please contact the Support team at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/ for further assistance.
MLB at bat is not working for me. I tried a GPS location spoofer in conjunction with VPNexpress and it still doesnt work. I am using device gps only, not advanced tracking.
Hi Bill,
ExpressVPN does not interfere with any streamimg service you choose to use. In fact, it helps you access your favorite sport streams no matter where you are.
If you have problems using ExpressVPN to watch NESN, please contact the Support team at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/ 🙂
will this work for watching Bruins Hockey (NHL) on NESN.
Hi there,
Please contact Support at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/ if you’re having any issues. Let’s get it fixed 🙂
same, im having issues with the WBC. Works every now and again on desktop, but not on the iphone ap.
Hey B,
Have you tried connecting to a server location in the U.S. before watching? Try to run your VPN first and then visit the site you’re trying to watch from. You can also contact the Support team at https://www.expressvpn.com/support/ if you need help 🙂
It’s not working for the World Baseball Classic on mlb.tv only watchable in the US. I need help or a refund on my money.
Hi Nick, try connecting to another location in the U.S. Or contact the Support Team, who might be able to help you.
I think MLB has gotten wise to the VPN trick. I’m trying to stream the World Baseball Classic in the UK (where it’s blacklisted). Have used Express VPN to both DC and NY and MLB TV says,
“We’re sorry. We have determined that you are blacked out of watching the game you selected, due to television broadcaster restrictions. An archive copy of the game will be available 90 minutes after the game ends.”
Is there a solution to this, or are we stuck?
🙁
Hi Christian,
A VPN can help you stream sports no matter where you are. Simply pick a broadcaster that is showing the South African cricket tour, connect to a VPN server in that location, then you’ll be able to watch the games in New Zealand or anywhere else!
Can I stream the South African cricket tour to New Zealand?
Is there any chance that I can get VPN Express to use in Spain and UK while I am away in Europe this month. We are huge baseball fans and don’t want to miss a minute. If it’s possible, can I use wifi to connect in our hotel room? Thanks for your help.
I downloaded expresa vpn changed my location and it will not let me watch it any help?
Thanks for reading, Beven! 🙂
Thanks for the tips!
